In just a few days, startups and technologists from Washington, DC and Northern Virginia will embark on the annual journey to Austin, Texas. The DMV crew will be met by other tech minded professionals from around the nation for SXSW Interactive. The annual conference has historically been the launch pad of many startups in the past, ranging from Twitter to last year’s Periscope and Meerkat. In a surprise announcement last week, SXSW organizers unveiled that President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will kick off the conference as keynote speakers at SXSW Interactive. SXSW itself will take over much of the downtown Austin area and runs from March 11-20. In addition to consuming content from some of the leading innovators and launching companies, the connections made at the festival last a life time. Below are just a few of the events and organizations from the DC Tech community that will be involved at this year’s festival.
