The launch of this new centralized privacy control hub follows the company’s announcement last week at Google I/O that they will soon be giving users more control than previously on the information that they provide to Google’s mobile apps. It also arrives more than a week after Pew’s recent report showing that 93 percent of Americans place high importance on being able to control access to their personal information. Through Google’s new My Account hub, users can go through the Privacy Checkup and Security Checkup – step-by-step walkthroughs on the various privacy and security controls that users have access to. With the ability to manage the information shared through and used by Google services, users can do things like control whether or not to turn on/off their Web and App activity or even Location History. There’s also an Ads Settings, which enables users to determine which ads are more fitting per their previous interests and searches.
